This non-profit organization is dedicated to spreading the devotion to the life of the saint known as Padre Pio. It is the only organization recognized by the Capuchin Friary in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. In honor of the saint, The National Centre for Padre Pio features a full museum of religious relics. Some of the items include holy relics from St. John Paul II, as well as first order relics from over 100 other saints. There’s also a relic of the most powerful of all miracles – the stigmata. These are wounds similar to those Christ was stricken with on the cross.
The centre is modeled after Padre Pio’s friary in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. It’s a lovely place to visit for a religious retreat or family get-together. You’ll find two lovely buildings with a small chapel and a museum.
The centre also features a gift shop. You can buy books and Padre Pio related memorabilia. A cafe with fresh baked pastries is also available. The building also contains a large church which is used for mass on the first Saturday of every month. The centre also has the best of the best in terms of tour guides.
The most impressive feature of The National Centre for Padre Pio is the size of its grounds. 106 acres make up this wonderful facility. It also includes a full museum of relics of Padre Pio and other Catholic saints. There are even outdoor statues of the most significant of the Saints. The center is a great destination for an outing or a day trip. It has ample parking.
